The Kennels
We do our very best to make sure your dog feels right at home, even when they are not at home.
The kennels all have individual internal bedroom areas (heated in the winter) plus external covered daytime runs, which are open all day long. Beds and bedding for your dog are provided, but we think it is nice for them to have something that smells of home, so encourage owners to bring a blanket or tshirt we can place in their bed. We provide toys but again do bring any favourites from home.
Depending upon your pet’s normal routine, we feed as often as required each day and will follow your specific feeding instructions. You will need to bring enough food for their stay, dogs fare much better with their own diet, we have facilities to store dry, wet and raw food.
All dogs are lead walked three times a day and as well as the three acres of land we are also lucky enough to be able to take the dogs to a stream at the edge of the property for a swim or a paddle if they love the water.
For 2024 we will be building a secure play area for the dogs to run and play free off the lead. We hope to have this completed by September.
If it’s their first time…
Whilst most dogs love staying with us, for first timers it can be a little daunting for some. So any dogs who have not stayed with us before are required to book a settling in stay of one day or night to meet us, get a feel for the kennel environment, and in no time at all mum or dad are back to collect them. This is a great way to help ease your dog in gently.
The Cattery
We have two catteries at Truthwall Mill and do our very best to make sure your cat feels settled and safe.
In total we have 12 individual pens of which 6 can be used for two cats sharing. Every pen has its own heater in the winter months, a raised sleeping area, scratching tower, litter trays and toys. You will need to bring enough food for your cats stay, this is to ensure your cat eats and also to prevent upset tummies that a sudden change of diet can cause.
There are sneeze barriers between adjoining pens, to avoid direct contact between cats and the cattery has two doors to maintain security.
Owners are very welcome to bring special blankets and/or toys to give the ‘home from home’ touch.
For 2024 we will be closing one of the catteries to build a whole new one which will include secure individual outdoor areas for each of the pens. We’re really excited about this!
What to bring.
You must bring your pets vaccination card with you. We can not accept any animal without seeing this. It is a licence requirement that we keep a log of every dog and cat staying with us and their vaccination dates. Most boosters are annual and must be given every 12 months to stay vaccinated.
We supply toys, bedding, bowls and blankets but you are welcome to bring your own or anything you think will make your pet feel at home. You will also need to bring enough food for their stay.
